Harmony Connect: Virtual Reality Platform Project

Social isolation and loneliness is a common problem for senior citizens, bringing a huge weight on their golden years, that should be full of happiness, joy, and a sense of belonging in this world. It is not just a personal struggle for seniors but a societal challenge that needs to be solved with empathy, compassion, and understanding. Seniors often experience the loss of friends, spouses, or other family members, which can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation. Chronic health conditions or physical limitations can make it difficult for seniors to participate in social activities, resulting in a decreased ability to engage with others. Seniors who have limited mobility due to age-related issues or disabilities may find it challenging to leave their homes and engage in social interactions. After retiring from work, seniors may lose the social connections they had established in the workplace, leading to a sense of isolation. Most seniors has difficulties or issues with navigating through technology and this can prevent seniors from staying in touch with family or friends. The solution I came up with to solve this problem is, HarmonyConnect, which is a virtual reality app that will provide convenience, fostering meaningful social connections for seniors in the digital age. By breaking away distances and recreating shared experiences, HarmonyConnect aims to get rid of social isolation and loneliness, bringing in a new era where our elders can thrive in a world of connectedness and companionship. The features of this app consist of Social connection feauture, to socialize with others, travel explorer feature, to experience the outside world with the convenience of being at home, self care feauture, to manage well being and mental health by doing yoga and meditation, fitness feature, to manage physical health, and guidance with navagtion through the platform. Having a virtual reality app on a TV is the best solution for seniors because it provides convenience for the users to have a sense of entertainment, wellness on mental health and well-being at home and won’t have to worry about going out due to their mobility issues.
